Thoma - Esplanade [MP3 Digital Download]

This EP came out of a collaboration between Thoma and Kalaido when they embarked on a mini-tour with him and other friends Rohne, Lapa, and Kennebec in the Pacific Northwest. Hanging out in Kalaido’s studio was a dynamic interplay of energies between Thoma’s synth and hardware approach to Kalaido’s sampled-based lofi hip-hop. The tracks came out playing spontaneously with hammered dulcimer, tongue drum, live drums and piano. The energy and beauty of Portland in spring, during the cherry blossom, also was an inspiration for the music, as biking and walking around Portland at this time gave a sense of new energy and brightness to life signaling the end of the winter darkness and cold.
